A tough July

It has been a while since I posted on here so with just a week to go till our two way relay I thought I better get on and update you all.  July was a tough month for me as I hardly swam at all due to a shoulder injury which just kept niggling away at me and was making me fall out of love of swimming. Not an ideal time to do this just a month or so out from my swim.
Brownsea Island
I did a beautiful swim last month around Brownsea Island which was about 6.5km but despite the wonderful surroundings my shoulder was giving me grief all the way round so I took about 3 weeks off swimming to rest it and give it a chance to feel fresh again.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel getting back in the water again afterwards but Tom tempted me to do a swim with him just before our holiday to Croatia up in Bedford.  I was entered into the 5km but last minute decided just to do 750m to see how the shoulder felt.  Luckily it felt good and I got a second place spot being pipped to the post by a 15 year old in a wetsuit!  Can’t keep up with the younguns these days. Tom did fantastically and did his longest swim ever – 5km.  He is joining me for a swim in September – swimming the length of Coniston in the Lake District so his training is coming on very well.  My love of swimming is back… just in time 🙂
